What are column health dots?

Column health dots are tiny colored indicators on each column header that show data completeness at a glance. Green means 90%+ of rows have a value. Amber means 50-89% are filled. Red means less than 50% are filled. The dot gives you instant visibility into data quality without running a report.

How is the health percentage calculated?

Health percentage is the ratio of non-empty values to total rows. Empty strings, null values, and undefined fields all count as empty. For number fields, zero is considered a valid value (not empty). For boolean fields, both true and false are considered filled. The calculation runs reactively on every data change.

Do health dots update in real-time?

Yes. Health dots are computed from Convex reactive queries. When a teammate fills in a value, the dot color updates immediately across all connected clients. You can literally watch a red dot turn amber and then green as your team fills in data.

Can I set custom thresholds for the health colors?

The default thresholds are 90% (green), 50% (amber), and below 50% (red). These thresholds can be adjusted per entity type in the schema builder settings. For example, you might set stricter thresholds of 95%/80% for a high-stakes product catalog.

Are health dots visible in all view types?

Health dots appear on column headers in Table view where they are most useful. In Kanban, Gallery, and Calendar views, the overall data health summary is available in the toolbar as a combined score. The per-column detail is most relevant when you can see columns.

Can I filter to show only rows with empty values for a column?

Yes. Clicking a red or amber health dot offers a quick action to filter to rows where that column is empty. This makes it easy to find and fill in missing data. You can also use the standard filter with the "is empty" operator.

Do health dots affect performance?

No. Health calculations are incremental — they update only when data changes, not on every render. The computation runs on the server side as part of the Convex query, so the client receives pre-computed health values. There is zero client-side performance impact.
